New Year’s Day brings so much promise with it. The hope of a new year can often be filled with renewed hope and aspirations that flood our thoughts and require action. This is a sharp contrast to the stress levels that climb at the end of the year. The hustle and bustle of the holidays can really wear you down. But the closer we get to the new year, that optimism can pick back up. We want to improve our quality of life and capitalize on the newness of the year change. Because who doesn’t want a happy life…a productive life? Just like that, the level of excitement of what is possible starts to take over. This is a good time to ride that wave and incorporate some new changes into your daily life.

Change Can Be Immediate

We experience that same feeling when the clock strikes midnight on January 1st to ring in a new year. Even the clock countdown is celebrated it with family and friends. You can expect a toast with champagne, music, and dancing to complete the evening. All because of a moment. A click. The tick of a clock hand. In one second, you go from being in one year to another. And in one moment, you can change your mindset and the course of your life. A growth mindset says that we can learn from the past and apply it to our future. That same growth mindset says that today is a new day with new opportunities. Even further, a growth mindset says that I may have experienced trauma, but I can all that trauma to contribute to my post-traumatic growth. Stepping into this change can help you create new belief systems that will work for you.

What Will You Do With Your Moment?

So, here we are. You and me both. We each have moments that make up our days and weeks and months and years. What will you do with your moment? Right now. How will you grow? What will you choose? Which direction will you take? Because your life can change in a moment. Your future can take a completely different trajectory based on one moment. Is New Year’s Day the day to choose a healthy meal over takeout? Or, perhaps it’s a moment to take a chance on a 5:00 am workout. Shout out to One Greatness Gym and our beloved Coach Adryan Adams.

Be Encouraged

Because our lives are full of so many moments, we get many chances to change our course. We also get many moments to be bold in our choices. I pray that your year is full of bold choices for good; for progress and growth; for grace and peace.

Here’s to another tick-tock of the clock and into the space of a new year.

Ever Forward,
